13.00 - 14.00 Lunch   Time available for Software Co's to spend time 1 on 1 with Delegates
14.00 - 14.45 Truss D&E John Butts The increased use of metal framing has created a need for computer software for the design of Cold Formed Steel (CFS) trusses and wall framing. Wood truss design software has been used for many years, but because of many differences between wood and steel (strength, web configuration, connection types, etc.), the conversion of wood truss design software to steel truss design software is difficult to achieve. Without the use of sophisticated computer software, it will be extremely difficult and time consuming to analyze a CFS truss and wall system. The proposed presentation will outline the fundamental design requirements for CFS trusses and walls, the engineer’s design responsibility and will give some guidance in the selection of computer software to assist the engineer in the design process. Completed truss and wall design examples using Truss D&E will be available as part of the presentation.
